So I am currently on my first practicum in which I am teaching girls, and its becoming quite evident the differences needed in the classroom.
On my first day, I almost laughed out loud when I looked at some the exercises books of the girls. They were clean, not ripped, organised and contained beautful handwriting! Last year teaching boys, I was lucky if they remembered a pen and book to write in – and both on the same day.Another funny thing that happened was when girls can’t complete a problem (say find a solution to a maths question), it amazes me how many of them actually ask for help and then listen to the answer.
From a guy’s point of view, I feel like I should apologise for my gender in the classroom!
